In a Rush?

With the last couple weeks of school finally upon us I can only imagine the kind of stress everyone is experiencing. I'd like to remind you that this stress does not mean you can't still look fabulous for class or for a day at the library. Remember, when you look good you feel good!

Pictured above is one of my favourite looks for fall. Not only is this ensemble unspeakably comfortable, it is fashion forward and chic. Add your coziest knit sweater to a pair of bold printed leggings and you have a quick outfit that will turn heads. With such a simple outfit it would be best to add subtle accessories like the classic pearl earrings pictured, or a long necklace that will accent your sweater.

Olivia Palermo always looks chic, no matter what. She is pictured above in a simple outfit that is easy to put together- especially if you are in a rush. Black tights and black boots paired with any kind of poncho or oversized knit is an effortless way to look put together while remaining comfortable. Add a large bag like Olivia to add a pop of colour!

Halloween Fashion Bash: TODAY!

Today is the day! Get ready for tonight ladies and gentlemen for it's our annual Halloween Fashion Bash. I am beyond excited to see what everyone has come up for their costumes. I for one am bringing Lauren Conrad back by sporting her famous braids and seaside style, but I've heard rumours of a Cher from Clueless and the classic Audrey. 8pm in Wilf's Den, can't wait to see everyone there!

Fashion in the Concourse

If there's one thing about Laurier students it's that they do not support rocking sweats to class. I am pleased to say that I am among very fashionable people here at WLU. Take a look at some of my favourite outfits I came across in the concourse, there's nothing I love more than fall fashion! Let's keep up our display of unique style, shall we Laurier?

My Ideal Fall Outfit

I came across this photo of Kate Winslet the other day and completely fell in love with it. From her messy waves right down to her gorgeous boots, it is my ideal look for fall. Firstly, her messy windblown waves and neutral makeup makes her look flawlessly comfortable on this fall day. The pink lipstick is a personal favourite of mine for the fall season; it adds a touch of colour that contrasts nicely with autumn hues. The oversized chunky knit paired with tights has been a popular look this fall season. Something so painlessly simple to put together is not only comfortable, but it is the perfect way to stay warm while keeping up your chic image. Lastly, those boots! Her perfectly lived in combat boots are ideal for this time of year. They are the ideal piece to add an edgy, vintage feel to the whole look. Hope you enjoy!

Carrie Bradshaw strutted her fashionable stuff all over the streets of NYC for years. Her oh so versatile style was, and still is, admired by many which makes her a perfect fashion icon to dress up as! Rock her classic look by wearing a white tank and pink tiered tutu. Work on your messy curls and in honour of Ms. Bradshaw wear your most fabulous heels. Add some accessories that will pop and you've got your Carrie Bradshaw look!

Audrey Hepburn as Holly Golightly in Breakfast at Tiffany's is such a classic look that women have imitated for years now. The classy LBD worn with black gloves and the most incredible diamonds bring together one of the most timeless looks to date. To achieve Audrey's look wear your most flattering black dress, a put together up-do, and diamonds diamonds diamonds! Oh, and don't forget the oversized sunglasses to finish off the look.

Leighton Meester as Blair Waldorf

Blair Waldorf's polished, put-together style on the set of gossip girl is something all powerful women admire. Pulling off the effortlessly classy yet sexy look is not an easy task, which is why she is one of the most modern fashion icons. A classic pencil skirt with a chic blouse is an easy way to achieve your Waldorf style. Add your favourite blazer and heels to really polish it off. Pair it with bold accessories that will embellish your simple pieces and you musn't forget her signature accessory: the thick-strapped headband!

Marilyn Monroe

Few words are needed to describe Marilyn Monroe's sexy style. Admired by men and women alike Marilyn was deemed a style icon the moment she was photographed in that iconic white dress. Copy her look by wearing a short, figure flattering white dress with white heels. Curl your hair and rock the red lips to complete the simple, sultry look.

Nicki Minaj

One word to describe Nicki Minaj's style: BOLD. Fearless when it comes to fashion, Nicki always pulls off out-of-this-world outfits. Her style is along the lines of "anything goes" but here are a few tips for those who are brave enough to imitate this fashion icon: 1) Don't be afraid to mix bright, bold colours and patterns. 2) Remember accessories are your friends. 3) Accentuate your curves. 4) Finally, wear the highest heels you can find.

We Dance Like There's Nobody Watching

Last Tuesday the WLU Fashion and Lifestyle Society hosted their dance event. Members were encouraged to wear their trendiest workout gear and to come work off their Thanksgiving dinner with a night of dancing. Special thanks to Ian Watson who came out and choreographed a great routine for us!

September was an exciting month for the Fashion and Lifestyle Society. Our colourful booth at the Get Involved Fair sparked the interest of the Laurier fashionistas!
